A Bountiful Dinner

Wondering how to use up your Bountiful Basket this week? Well here is how I used up quite a bit of it tonight. Cut up 1/3 pound bacon and brown. Remove, retaining grease in pan. Add small onion and saute with salt. Remove onion to the bowl with the bacon. Sear chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper. Place chicken in glass oven pan. Place cored, halved Brussels sprouts in pan with a little olive oil. Saute briefly then add bacon and onion back to the pan. Saute then add a few squirts of Dijon mustard and 2 tbsp water. Heat to bubbly and pour over chicken breast in baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees until chicken is done. Serve with corn on the cob and green salad of leaf lettuce and Brussels leaves.
For dessert I used the pears with brown sugar and cinnamon wrapped in pizza dough and brushed with butter. Yummo!!

Taste the Rainbow

This past Tuesday, silly me, went to Walmart to use some double coupons. This time it worked in my favor, however disappointed I am in the workforce of America. I purchased 6 boxes of Mac n'Cheese-$.79 ea., a bag of Cheese Puffs (not for me, and they are not free or cheap-$2.49), and a can of Cream of Chicken soup, $.95. I had 2 coupons for $1 off 3 boxes of Mac and 2 doublers. So my math told me that would be a total of $.66 off per box of Mac, making them $.13 ea. Well when I got up to the register the twenty-something cashier was eating Skittles while checking people out. REALLY, eating at the register, that is so wrong, for so many reasons. 1. Eating while waiting on people, RUDE. 2. You are handling money, GROSS. 3. You are regularly coming in contact with your mouth, then touching my stuff and possibly me when I pay....ughhh!! Apparently she heard Skittles make you smarter. Guess what, they weren't doin' it. My coupon for a $1 off of 3 boxes confused her. So she had to ask a supervisor come assist. He was puzzled too, he needed some Skittles. So he said to charge me $.01 for each Mac then take the coupons off. So $.06 minus $4. Good thing I bought those other 2 things, I walked out only paying $1.78.

Jilted men=best crap, best prices

Recently hunting with Sarah, we came across our favorite type of sale host, a jilted man. The first time I took her saling the first stop was a divorcee selling just about everything. Sarah must of gotten greater than 20 items. She paid $10. This include a Gameboy with 6 games and a Breast Cancer Society planner. The planner sold on Ebay for just over $10, making everything else free gravy. Our second gentlemen had a wife, now ex, who loved to buy collectibles. He had so much to unload, the 2-day event had completely different merchandise each day. We went twice of course. My best fine: 3 Portmeirion Botanic Garden canisters. I bought them for $3, he called them crap. These are ceramic with wooden lids. One had a mismatch lid, so I listed them on Ebay in 4 different listings. Within 24hrs. I had a $19.99 bid on one and several watchers on the others. We also found a set of Franciscan Ware Starburst dishes for $45. Two days into the listing that purchase has almost broke even and has several watchers. See items here and here. Chow!

Wendy, I'm home!

After a long sebatical away from blogging, I am back!

Surprises are the best!

So I went to Albies this evening. Bought the usual sale items with coupons and doublers. Greatest thing was a Catalina I didn't know I was gonna get, for 12 pack of free soda. I asked the cashier how I got that and she said for every 3 Chex mix one pops out. So on the current promo, buy 10 save $5, also get 3-12 packs of soda. I used it right away and the Dr.Pepper had $1 off peelies that I was able to use as well. Bottom line: 12 pack Dr. Pepper...77 cents. Whoohoo!!

Thank Goodness!!

I painfully made my trek to Walmart last night with my doublers and coupons not worth using on Albies prices. I haven't shopped Walmart in years. I hate the lines, the people, the lack of service, the fact that I have to walk a half mile to get one thing real quick-ya right. Anyways, now that they honor doublers I go to Albies first and Walmart next. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have fixed their previously mundane system of having to price adjust every item individualy for the doubled amount. Now they just key it in as a vendor coupon, much like Albies. Took me an hour to get in and out for 19 items. I could do 3 times that at Albies no problems.
