Lampoon Neighborhood

<
I am all about decorating for holidays, but really some people take it too far. In the likeness of the the '70s and '80s style giant plastic yard ornaments (now collectable) we have the inflatables.

Seems like every other neighbor has one, and every neighborhood has a neighbor that has them ALL. Seriously, it looks like a grounded holiday parade going nowhere! If there is one thing that I will never have is an inflatable. If I were forced to have one, how about a Nativity inflatable. How come no one has one of those?

Notice in this one, Santa towers over the angel and steeple.

The included photos are of houses around my neighborhood. (Forgive me, they're a little blurry.)
p.s. Sorry if my hot air has deflated your affinity for these grounded hot air baloons.

And the "piece de resistance"

I could not fit it all in one frame. They must have over twenty-five!!

And Twilight Graced the Land

I just got back from the premiere. The midnight showing was sold out, and thank goodness the young couple's baby in front of us, did not cry at all. I would have been irate. I think I may have to see it again. I am going to try to finish reading Midnight Sun before though. What I did read of it was very insightful into Edward's character.

Martha

I used to be a die hard Martha Stewart watcher. But after watching day in and day out I thought, "I have not put any of these ideas to work." Since then I catch it now and then and figure when I have time to be crafty and handy I can allow myself to watch again. But now there is a new show about Martha. You can learn a new technique and laugh all the way through, Whatever Martha. My rationalization is laughter is uplifting and now I am just entertaining myself. This show has Martha's daughter and friend mocking past shows Martha has done. It is hilarious. Definately a must see. Catch it on FLN. I want to know what you think!!

I might be crazy

I consider myself typical with only a few quirks. The other day I made it to class early and got my preferred front row by the wall seat. Since this is next to the wall I usually make use of the fold up surface of the seat next to me, so I can face the speaker and take notes comfortably. In the back of my mind I remembered the last time I had this seat, the usual late comers came in wanting the nearest seat possible to avoid being OBVIOUSLY late. Tardy people for this class is more frowned upon, because it is a lecture series in which each week there is a different guest speaker talking about the research they are involved in at there university. The speaker began, down went the lights. In came one of the chronic time offenders, he sat 2 seats away. A few moments later another repeat offender entered. Seeing my comfortable set up, my soda on the seat next to me and and an empty row of seats behind, he thought it a good idea to ask if he could have the seat next to me. Being passive-aggressive I gave him the seat, moving my soda, my textbook, my notebook over to my fold up so I could not fully face the speaker and get a kink in my neck. Not sure if he thought this was gracious, but I hope he picked up on my discontent. At this point I was so irritated, I decided not to take notes on this presentation, as I could not stay focused on anything more than the selfish, rude, late-comer.

To further fuel my embers, later in the presentation the gentleman two down began a backward bobbing of the head, unable to remain coherent. Remember, we were in the front row. After ten or so minutes of paying attention to nothing but the bobbing, I had returned to listening to the speaker when I heard snoring!! Thank goodness for his sake this was a single event, if it happened again I was gonna reach around and whap him on the head.

It couldn't have gotten any worse, but it did. To top off a great talk that I could have written a paper on, but could not, as note taking I did not partake; wafting my way came the reek of a silent emitter. I blamed this on the guy next to me since he took notice when I covered my nose with my sleeve. Next time I'll sit at least one row back, I will forever give up my front row wallflower seat.

Bad to the bone

Back in high school I worked at a convention center. Over the four years I worked there I passively took part in many an event for free. One of them was a Chippendales dancer show. Kind of exciting for a high school girl. I remember vividly a solo routine involving a Harley Motorcycle, a muscle man with black leathers and not much of anything else. His show was performed to George Thorogood's, 'Bad to the Bone'. To this day, every time I hear a George Thorogood song I see the routine in my head once more. No need to go to another show and waste my money, eh?

Halloween - one of my favorites

Halloween is quite possibly my favorite holiday. Not because I can send my kids out to collect a smorgasbord of chocolate that I will keep in my locker and ration out so they don't overeat, but I do. It is more than that. It's the time that I have the chance to be who ever society will not let me be on any other day. I can be the degenerate, any other day I would be banished to hell for acting like one. I can be Marilyn Monroe, any other day I'd be a whory schizo. Schizo was kind of fun with Billy Bob teeth. It's the whole package. It's the scary movies, haunted houses, and true ghost stories. Mostly it is the fond memories of Halloween past with friends. No haunted house could match up to the one my friend Allison's brother worked at when we were in High School. He taunted us the whole way through with the big scary voice and had his friends grabbing our ankles in the dark. She was so scared she ripped my shirt. Ahh, those were the days. To commemorate the day, I present the scary picture countdown.

Another time KILLER!!

This my first post for another time killer for me. A little about me: I am a mom of 2, wife, student, health care worker, junk collector, pedlar of anything that can make a buck, and perpetual shopper for a deal-whether I need it or not. Thus, I am a bit Sanfordy, like Sanford and Son. My favorite reads are non-fiction, murder mystery and medical thriller. I love all movies and music. Welcome to my black hole for your time and mine.
