The Help

Film adaptation
In December 2009, Variety reported that Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Michael Radcliffe will produce a film adaptation of The Help, under their production company 1492 Prods. Brunson Green of Harbinger Productions will also co-produce. The film will be written and directed by Stockett's childhood friend Tate Taylor, who optioned film rights to the book before its release.

Trick or Treat?! No, REALLY...

WARNING! The jelly beans you are about to consume may be highly disgusting. Be a little wary if your prankster friend hands you a tin of jelly beans -- you could get BEANBOOZLED. Jelly Belly's BeanBoozled candies come in twenty flavors... but only ten colors. Each color has a good-tasting version (like Chocolate Pudding) and a bad-tasting version (like Canned Dog Food). You can personalize tins and include one color or the full array. Why do it? Who knows. People are weird. We just know that if any Rotten Egg flavored beans end up in our office, there's gonna be trouble. Each bean clocks in at 4 calories. P.S. Rumor has it, the formula for the Barf flavor is based on Jelly Belly's failed attempts at making a pepperoni pizza flavor back in the day...

Congrats to Zhu Zhu Pet Winner
Thanks to all who entered out of the 39 entries (I deleted the last entry since it was submitted after October 17), it was Leslie in Idaho whose number got chosen. She has already responded back, and was thrilled since she says she never wins anything.

See the details of what I won on her blog: http://yardsalequeen.blogspot.com/2009/10/zhu-zhu-pets-review-contest-giveaway.html

Check Your Outdates

With all the items we have been buying, don't forget to check the expiration dates. I got one box mix that is only good til the end of the month. It is a good idea to check them at the store before they go in your cart. I will next time. So I organized the pantry and put everything away with the shortest date in front. Everything that expires this month stayed out on the counter. We have enjoyed brownies, angelfood cake, and soon oatmeal. YUM!! Might need to look for some recipes for all the oatmeal I have. LOL.

Also since cancelling cable and joining Netflix we have seen some great movies:
Little Manhattan
Soloist
and at the theatre: Orphan

My trip to Albs

I went to Albs did 2 transactions. I could have done 3 if I was paying attention and had a calculator.
Transaction 1:
18 jars Ragu
1 loaf bread
Reg price: $64.75
Used 9-$1 Ragu coupons, doubled 7 of them
and one $1 coupon on bread.
Paid with a $10 catalina from the Dr. Pepper promo and part of a $15 gift card my husband won at the Safety thing in the park Saturday.
Bottom line was $6.44, zero out of pocket.
Got $15 Catalina.

Transaction 2:
Everything else in the photo.
Reg. price: $97.41
Had $27.60 in coupons
Doubled 7, for another $7 off
Used $15 catalina,
Used remainder of gift card.
Total out of pocket $11.27 and still have another $15 Catalina.
And I am up to $.40 off per gallon of gas.

My Rite Aid trip

After coupons: $26.18
Applied remaining
giftcard: $24.85
After rebates: $1.14 money maker
Plus I'll get the cute bag full of samples.

My friend is hooked, and she ROCKS!!

I first told my friend Sarah about couponing and rebates about a year ago. She is very organized, always planned meals before she shopped. She is a very busy person, and really didn't feel there was time to clip coupons and save $.40 on Ragu. Well look at her now. This is her first trip to Albertson's and only her second couponing excursion. She has only been collecting coupons for three weeks.
The breakdown:
5 transactions and bought 66 items (5 jars Ragu still in trunk)
(ave. 68 cents per item).
reg. Albs Prices of all items: 223.76
Sale Albs prices of all items: 134.26
Paid OOP for all items: 45.13
